Trink, trink, Bruederlein trink !
Donjon de Vez, 1999.
I originally did the piece in a church/neo gothic chapell at the donjon de Vez for the exhibition ‘eclipse’. I used the residue, ie. the dirty glasses from the private view, a social gathering as something spiritual and holy to project onto the walls of the chapell. The approach is very materialistic, use what is there, ie art= private view =gathering=
enormous potential for doing and being, and use the left overs/residue, dirty glassesto celebrate the fragility and beauty of these human encounters.
The tower was about eight feet high and about ten feet across. The glasses were 25 cm high and 7.5 cm in diameter, used and therefore dirty. The shape produced by two of these glasses
put together echos the neo gothic arch of the chapell. In the middle is a clear 500 watt light bulb.
