Wicker Transmitter

These large woven “radiophore” structures, crafted by basket makers and attached to old fortifications, transform former defensive sites into shelters for migratory birds and quiet listening spaces for people. Shaped like radio beacons, they celebrate migration and the interconnectedness of the world while challenging anthropocentric and nationalistic views. The wicker radiophore amplifies the sounds of birds landing or nesting, creating a shared acoustic experience that invites reflection and a softened sense of identity. Made with local artisans, these shelters are meant to be installed along African and European migration routes, from West Africa to Poland. The next installation is planned for Salses-le-Château.
