These drawings are made using stencils created after various paintings by the Romantic Norwegian painter August Cappelen (1827–1852) best known for his melancholic, dramatic and romantic landscape compositions. These are used to burn the drawings into and onto the paper, deliberately playing with the risk of losing control over the process, making the act of drawing and of pictorial depiction simultaneously generative and destructive, echoing the tension between the intimate and the infinite with that of creating and destroying.
